The Stir Fry cooked in a ring of fire...
... and it burned burned burned.. in the ring of fire.. in the ring of fire.. in the ring of fire Hello All,
So after 2 days on the totally crazy Khoa San Rd it got a bit much and we had to get out of Bangkok, so we went to the bus station and bought a ticket for a first class air con bus to Chiang Mai. But as it turned out the 10 hour bus ride was a bit of a nightmare as the aircon didn't work and the seats weren't too comfy either... nevermind tho, we got here..... stumbled off the bus and found a nice little guesthouse with its own cafe. They do awesome fruitshakes and they are so cheap!
We spent the first 2 days checking out the city which is surrounded by a huge square moat which We'll tell you about later.... after learning the streets and sampling the night bazzar markets we decided to spend a day out of the city and took a day trip to the zoo. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere since the zoo is set in the middle of the jungle.
Today we went on a Thai cooking course that was loads of fun, first we went to a food market and the chef guy showed us all the different spices, noddles and vegetables. After that we got taken to the chef's house which is in the countryside. Cooked some soup, stirfrys, curries... and ate it all. It was so delicious!
We're going to go and book a trekking trip into the mountains now to go see some local tribes, ride on elephants and go rafting.
Talk to you soon,
Frauke and Jamie
Peace out!
