Hello everyone 😊 hope you're all doing well, we're having a blast in Melbourne - can't believe we're leaving so soon! Recently we've visited the Queen Victoria market which is full of everything and anything and some great food stalls (stocked up on a bit of fruit!); we also went to the natural bodies exhibition (can't remember the exact name) but it was basically all these humans and animals cut open to show you how the body works and how it changes at different stages; it was really interesting, a bit freaky at times, but you wouldn't believe how huge a whale's lung is! We've also done a fair bit of wandering around; visited a few vintage stores but generally clothes are expensive (as is everything) in Melbourne. Yet our home made cream cheese sandwiches are accompanying us everywhere now so we're trying to save money!
Yesterday it was tipping it down, I tell you Fiji's weather forecast is looking more and more appealing! But we managed to make the most of the bad weather by visiting the immigration museum and the aquarium. The immigration museum was free, so we began in a good frame of mind, but seriously, it was so interesting. As Oz is such a recent country (in terms of white history) its incredible to see how quickly it grew and their ever changing immigration policies - we ended up spending about 2 and half hours in there! Very near by is the aquarium which made both of us feel like over sized kids; particularly when it came to the penguins' feeding time. They are such animated creatures and, when surrounded by children, you can't help but be enthusiastic about their behaviour. You can also go scuba diving with sharks here but it costs a lot so we decided against it (also as we saw some people doing it, we realised you're also diving with these huge sting rays - Ed wasn't that keen, and neither was I). We've also found the most amazing churros and hot chocolate place, which is literally to die for, but so far we're managing to limit any more possible visits.
Today we also had a wonder round the Fitzroy gardens which contain Captain Cook's cottage and a fairy tree, the weather was a bit nicer this morning which always helps that kind of thing too. There's not really much else to tell; there are free pancakes at the bar soon so we're planning on abusing their generosity! Also today we were listing what foods we want/need on our return (bread every meal every day starts to get to your head..) and Lesley your risotto is demanded by Ed, Adrian Ed wants bacon pasta (with cheese), George - a roast dinner/ shepherd's pie would be appreciated. From me: mum, any kind of lasagna/spag bol/ mac cheese would be worshipped, as would a full on roast or duck confit.

Yes we've reached that stage where we are planning return meals, although we're changing to pasta in Sydney so maybe our cravings will be put to rest!

Eastaffs: hows the USA? saw matt's facebook about carol being drunk, absolute jokes, presume that's mum's influence. generally I demand a fill in from each of you.

lots of love to everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Food glorious Food
Hiya Glad to hear you're both still having the times of your lives - can't wait to see all the photos! Needless to say we're both missing you and looking forward to seeing you both on your return - but still hoping the time goes slowly for you as wouldn't want to wish any of that away! Things are OK here - we've had some more exciting times at home with water which has been a little frustrating but we'll tell you all about it when you're back. Not sure what it is with our house and water!!!! I'll make sure there's roast pork on the menu for you when you get back Ed and start making plans for copious amounts of shepherd's pie and bacon pasta (YES with cheese!!) We may even be able to squeeze in a trip to the Cricketers for a portion of ribs and a pint or two! Take care and enjoy the rest of Oz and NZ and Fiji - safe travels and love to you both See you soon x

Risotto
You're on Ed, Sarah and family all welcome for a risotto and reminicense? evening. Have printed off your email about student finance Ed. Does Dad have a copy of the completed form, as that will have your signature on?? Will try ringing them tomorrow to see how I get on, but don't hold your breath on getting money any time soon for your start in September. At least you have some reserve and we can help until the loan comes through. Enjoy the rest of your time in Australia. New Zealand is on the horizon, hope weather is better for you there. Lots of love Mum and Alex.
