Sabai-Dee... hello...
Made it to Laos via 2 day slow boat ride through the Laos mountains. It is absolutely gorgeous here... I'm in love with this place (100x more than Thailand). It also seems much more cleaner and I feel that the people are much more polite. Drivers actually come to a complete stop when coming to a crosswalk full of people.

From Chiang Mai we headed north to Chiang Rai, which wasn't all that impressive, and from there took a bus to the border at Chiang Khong (Thai side) and Huay Xai (Lao side). Just by crossing the river you could see a huge change. We got to Luang Prabang which is a very cute little tourist town. It almost has a French-villa type of feel. It's nestled right in between where the Mekong river (which we swam in, and apparently not suppose to) and Khan river meet. Tried my first lao whiskey. holy shit that stuff is rank. I think coming out here was when it really hit me that I'm halfway across the world. Before we mostly stayed in the city and really hadn't gotten a real chance to see the surrounding nature. We don't have anything like this where we live.

Today we will be frolicking under some waterfalls and getting massages. I'm hoping Lao massages are a little more gentle than Thai massages! Pics to come.. some of these computers are too slow for uploading.
