Yup. Dengue Fever. Awesome. Have to stay in Managua tonight, too. Hopefully can go back to Moropoto tomorrow.

Well.

Friday things started to go downhill. Our dog, Huesita, died. Lenin and I have had her for over a year and it was not a pretty death. So that sucks.

Then that night a fever hit me.... and it hasn't let up. Saturday Sunday Monday and today, Tuesday. Sunday I woke up with a heat rash all over my body, too. Everyone said it's "calentura" or basically a cold/flu. But that usually is like a 24 hour sort of thing. Not a four day thing. So after getting up today and still feeling like a truck hit me in the middle of the night, I came to Managua. I got here late in the afternoon so had a checkup and went to the lab for blood tests. Great possibility that it's Dengue Fever. Kind of be a relief if that's it so I can have yet one more awesome thing checked off my Grand Nicaraguan Peace Corps Adventure. Botfly larvae. Check. Close encounters with Chagas. Check. Dengue Fever? Check? Finding the love of my life and marrying him. Check.

Speaking of which, while Managua Peace Corps approved hotels rock my world with TV and Air and Hot Showers and there is a mall and a huge supermarket within walking distance from the office..... I do enjoy the amenities every now and then, but then I just want to get back home...

But right now I'm going to go fully enjoy the indoor bathroom with hot RUNNING water and a clean towel.

I'm sorry that you don't feel well
Just think, when/if you do get back to the USA, you are going to have an immune system of steel. Germs will literally bounce off your chest and then explode.
