We're back in Bruges after spending yesterday in the Brussels suburbs. We visited the Royal Museum of Central Africa at Tervuren created by King Leopold II. It contains exhibits of animals and products from mostly the Congo. We thought it would be a good introduction for Tricia. It is located on unbelievable park grounds in a small town east of Brussels. The weather was gorgeous. I thought of the weather Melanie and Colleen enjoyed when they visited the museum in 2007. From Tervuren we drove to Waterloo to view the famous momument of Napoleon's defeat at the hands of Wellington and forces of seven other nations. After Waterloo, we meandered westward from Waterloo to catch E19 northbound around the Brussels ring. We sat in traffic for 1 1/2 hours to go a distance of 15 kilometres. Traffic is an issue in this densely populated country. Tricia and I just witnessed a hot air balloon rising over the rooftops of Bruges. This is a magical place. As we walked the back alleys from dinner last night at almost midnight the towers of Bruges were washed with light. We will spend today around Bruges. Mom and Dad are looking forward to a canal ride and dinner prepared at home with local produce from the Farmer's Market by their eldest and youngest children. Not to change the subject...
