On the road again

We're on the road again - after all, it's almost summer and Maine is calling again. It's not quite as ambitious as last summer with our cross country fun but we're revisiting American history this spring. Last June as we were driving through Tennessee and Virginia we kept seeing these signs with vaguely familiar names from Civil War battles but since we were moving fast by that point, we didn't stop but said we'd come back...and so we have. We left CA yesterday - yes, it was one of those how much can you pack in two suitcases trips...and are spending the weekend with Steve's parents outside Baltimore and will be off on the road tomorrow morning.

We've decided road tripping is definitely a favorite family occupation - in case any of you doubt it, follow our daughter Lauren's adventures in Europe this year at www.lzgineurope.blogspot.com. We all want her life! This winter saw some minor road tripping...Europe at Christmas to visit Lauren ( remember those windy roads in the south of France), Mexico, Hawaii, and a wonderful couple of days wandering through Joshua Tree National Park near Palm Springs and then up through the Mojave Desert.

We'll be on the road for a couple of weeks trying to see how much we remember from high school history...probably not much and so it will be a voyage of discovery for us. Steve has never been to many of these places and it's been years for me but I remember the trip to Williamsburg fondly - I still have the horsehoe I got there with my name stamped in it.

I found it such a joy to write simply for the pleasure of it last summer on my travel blog...after all those years of business writing...that I'm back at it....and hope you enjoy our adventures again this summer.
