The hostel in Paris. We went from 20 roommates to 4, much better! Hey all!
I'm writing you from San Sebastian. Day 9 already...hard to believe. We've got a couple of hours until we jump on a train to Madrid, so I figured it was a good time to let you know how Paris was.
We got into Paris early evening on Monday and made our way to the hostel...or so we thought. Apparently there is a difference between a "rue" and a "boulevard" in Paris (our first lesson). After a long trek through the north end of Paris, we finally stumbled upon our destination. Again, Canadians dominated the hostel.
Our first night we went straight down to the Eiffel tower to get night pictures and watch the nightly light show. Hopefully the video I took of the tower works and you can all check it out. Its an awesome sight to see. The next day we walked all through the town on a free walking tour. As crazy as it was to believe, Amit managed to run into friends from Laurier on the tour. Small world.... We stopped off at the Louvre, St Michel's fountain, Plaza Concorde, Palais Royale, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame (from a distance). After that,

On our way down to the Eiffel Tower. we continued to wander around the city taking pictures of sights at night. Aside from the Canadian flag on my back pack (and when we spoke of course), I think we managed to fight right in. We were zipping through the french metro system with no problem at all. I guess that grade 9 level french I have came in handy :p.
Thanks to a busy train schedule, we had to depart a day early from Paris and spend an extra day in San Sebastian. Going south is never a bad idea, it just meant we had to fit a lot of Paris into 3 days. On our last day, we took a train to the Palace of Versailles. I hope the pictures do it justice, because it was quite the estate. It took us hours to wander through it all. The gardens were so big that the map said it would take an hour to get to the end of it. What a backyard! Continuing on with our day, we jumped up to the top of the Eiffel Tower, despite the near freezing weather (or so it seemed with the wind blowing up there). Chewy, I wrote a

Eiffel Tower from across the river. message for you on the tower, check out the pictures.
Although the city was gorgeous, I am still iffy on Paris in general. I guess it still has to grow on me. Not that the people were mean, but they certainly weren't overly nice. Nothing like Spain. We tried to use as much French as possible, but we still were seated in the back corner of a restaurant between a leaky window and a vending machine (seriously!). Ahh well, what can you do. The french are...well...different.
Anyways, I am gonna put up some photos and perhaps a video, then we're off to Madrid.
I hope everyone is doing great back home. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
Cheers,
Jason

Hey Jason, Sounds like your having fun! The Eiffel Tower looks amazing. The palace of Versailles looks unbelievable and I can't wait to check it out with you and Dad. By any chance did you get to see the Mona Lisa? We lost our hockey tournament( didn't make it to the championship). We went to Dicks sporting goods and I got a sweet wooden bat. At the Galleria I got awesome nikes. they are green and gold(packers colors). I also got a Superman shirt. I gotta catch the Deadliest Warrior that I missed and I hope for Chicago to close out the deal tonight! Have lots of fun!! I miss you Love Braydon
