Hello again everyone, just got back from the Kiwi Experience bus ride around Auckland and the trip was fantastic. There were only a few people on it, 2 girls from Sweden, a girl from Germany, and a New Zealander who lives on the south island. We learned a lot about the history of the city and New Zealand in general. We went up to an old Maori Pa (a fortified mountain top) which had been converted to an artillery position for defense against ships. We walked on a beach on the way up to the Pa and it was absolutely covered in small clam shells. There was a bungee jump platform under the bridge that cost $115NZ that no one in our group opted for, I was thinking of doing it myself but I’m trying to save my money as I don’t have a source of income yet.

The Kiwi Experience buses travel all over New Zealand and they had a great deal on for a trip up to the Bay of Islands and back. It’s a round trip but you can get off the bus anywhere along the way and get back on any time within 6 months of

activation. Our driver was kind enough to give me a pass for a free photo and DVD pack for a bungee jumping place in Queens Town, which is a stop on one of their southern routes.

I’ll most probably be heading north at the end of this week or the next, I will be talking to the people at the job centre tomorrow in the morning to see what is available in the fruit picking or dairy farm areas around Kerikeri. Hopefully it’s better prospects than what I’ve heard from the travelers who’ve been looking the in the Auckland area.

I’m just listening to the Canucks on the team 1040 streaming over the net and the 3 other Canadians in the lounge are crowded around my computer right now to hear my computers dinky little speakers over the din of hip hop and German in the background. 6-4 Canucks, fantastic!

I’ve having a lot of fun with some of the travelers at the hostel here, it’s easy to make friends if you participate in a couple of the free competitions (such as pool or poker) and are willing to make a bit of a show of yourself.

Me and a few English guys and girls went to a few bars afterwards and had a little too much fun (see pictures).

Talk to you later!
