to Moscow . . .

As the train rolled through the last kilometers, approaching Moscow, the sun rose on our final day on the Trans Mongolian. The steady murmur of the wheels on the endless rails and the gentle rocking that put us to sleep was soon to be replaced by comfy beds in homey apartments as we spent a week in Moscow with our friend Vania who teaches there in Moscow. While the adventure had been incredible, we were ready for a week of relative stability!

But I quickly found Moscow to be a fast paced and intense city. It almost felt as if the residents were eager to make up for lost years. Whatever they did, they did with drive and vigor. From those rediscovering their family's Orthodox Christian traditions to those in pursuit of the capitalist dream of success, they lived intensely.

Me, I enjoyed the long days of cool air under a bright sun and endless blue skies. Wandering through Red Square, exploring the magnificent Metro (subway) stations, devouring another Magnet ice cream bar. It was a good time! And so I share a few photos as our Trans Mongolian experience comes close to a close.

One more stop though - St. Petersburg!

Moscow-Russia, not Kentucky
Thanks, Mike. Wonderful memories. Did Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1996. Can't wait to see your pics from St. Pete, the most beautiful city I have ever visited.
