BA to El Calafata

Well we are here at last!! After 2 cancelled flights (thanks very much to BA cabin crew for going on strike and greedy Iberia management for kicking us off a plane because we were in lowly frequent flyer points seats), this is now day 5 in South America.

I know by now you would all expect to see some great photos of massive glaciers and peaks, and slightly exaggerated tales from our time in Buenos Aires and El Calafate, but unfortunatley the story so far is not quite so exciting. Catherine has spent as much time in bed - or on the loo... 😊 - as she has on her feet thanks to a particularly nasty stomach bug, so we haven´t been able to see much.

It´s not all bad though, we have almost 4 months to do our thing! Highlights so far include taking a train that flew along with the doors wide open, walking by a big Che Guavara Rally where the people around the edges had scarves on their faces and big sticks in their hands (that was interesting...), and flying into El Calafate, where the landscape is so barren it feels like we are in the middle of no where (which I suppose we are really).

Right now we are chilling out in the common room at our hostel in El Calafate, listening to Ben Harper while Catherine recovers and the bus that we spent a whole 10 pounds each on makes its way to Puerto Natales in Chile. Hopefully tomorrow morning, one will leave with us on it!!

We´ll update this when something more interesting happens!

Hasta Luego
Aaron and Catherine
