Personal dedication withstands all.
I'm not going to go into the trouble of explaining Kathau day on here. Every year on March 4th since 2006 I've visited the resting place of the ashes of a writer named Peter Sloane, and this year was especially special. Firstly, it's been five years since he died this year. Secondly it was quite lucky I managed to do it this year, living abroad and all. The real reason I was back in UK was to bring my belongings over to Prague. Thirdly it felt really fulfilling to travel non-stop from Bílá Hora to reach this place. And finally, when I got there, my inscription on the rather distinctive tree which marks the place from the previous year was still very much visible.

This yearly pilgrimage really means a lot to me. I hope I will be able to do it again before south bucks district council build over the entire reserve - something which sadly there seem to be plans for. Sad not only for my personal reasons, but also because this nature reserve holds some of the little truly natural woodland left in England.

Vsechno nejlepsi k svatku
Hey Bro, I am sure by now you are aware that Czech people have an extra celebration day - according to their name as given by Czech calendar. I think 4th March must be your NAME day. It's funny as my name day comes up on the 8th of March... So, HAPPY name day ;o) Sis

Svatka
Thanks sis :) yes there are two possibilities for my nameday - either March 4th or February 8th, the latter being the day I changed my name by deed poll (and the weird coincidence there is that comes one day after Veronika!) TBH I prefer Kathau Day, everyone needs some crazy tradition in their life and this is mine.
