Men hold hands. I had seen it before in Egypt… and in San Francisco. I wasn’t taken aback at all, it’s their culture. I wasn’t taken aback that is until a guy I know grabbed my hand. I played along, but I definitely felt a little awkward running off with this dude and holding his hand.

The customary greeting between men is a handshake where you lean in and touch shoulders. Kind of similar to the urban man-hug where you shake with your right and hug with your left arm, but since you are still shaking, the right arm provides a slight buffer between man chest.

They don’t really eat or sell fruits, just juice. All the juices are fantastic. I like pineapple and avocado the best so far. Yes, avocado is a fruit, it can come in juice form and it is delicious.

Tax in some places can be 20%, not sure if some places have been in business long enough to where they are not asked to pay taxes by the government or they just do stuff under the table. But your meal might be taxed 5% for something, then that total is taxed 15% for VAT. Items sometime mysteriously appear on the bill and the process to remove them can take a little while.

The year is 2002. There are 12 months of 30 days and 1 month of 5 days. Sunrise is 12 in the morning, sunset is 12 in the evening. So 2 in the morning is 8 a.m. Regina asked someone, “What time is sunset?” the answer was of course “12”. Duh!

Men dance by rapidly shrugging their shoulders. Some of the guys can really get down.

“This is possible” is a popular catch phrase as is “no is a problem”

My netbook reminds me every time I turn it on that wireless networks are not available.

They always make a sound like a small gasp, I am not sure what it means, but I think it is like saying, ”what?”

Everything moves really slowly

Holding hands would've been welcomed...
...last night for my brother. Yeah, Jared took me to this new bar/club in Oakland; about 15 minutes into our first beer, this very tall, very gay black man came over to Jared, invaded his personal space by talking very closely, complimented him, then caressed his right tittie before giving his nipple a good pinch. Jared's response? He backed away saying "Okay, okay, okay...." I'm sure he felt something similar to the awkwardness you felt running and holding hands with another man.
