The Time Has Finally Arrived

So the day has finally come that I am leaving Dublin to begin my backpacking travels around Europe. I am aiming pretty big with a goal of covering practically all of Europe in a little over 3 months of non-stop travel. I am flying to Amsterdam in 9hours and from their I will be hitting the rails (and no not the brass rail nalinda.. god get ur mind out of the gutter) the locomotive rails that is. I have three months of unlimited train travel tickets for 30 countries in Europe. I am really excited to start this part of my adventure as I feel like I have been waiting my whole life to do this. Europe is the magical, imaginery place that only existed in movies and now I will attempt to see with my own eyes all of these monumentally historical places. I will do my very best to do as many blogs as I can about my travels so that everyone can keep track of my movements.

I am a little sad to be leaving Dublin and all of my friends but it doesn't seem final yet as I will be returning for a week to get my stuff organized before I return to Canada. I have experienced a crazy year here in Ireland with a lot of things happening in this country that have not happened in a very long time. The recession/banking crisis, the disasterous floods in the south, the very cold and snowy winter, the opening of some terrible wounds with the inquest into the child abuse by the Irish Priests, and in the last week the cougarific Mrs. Robinson. Ohh and the Guinness factory catching on fire! I don't have much time right now to reflect on all of these things but I will when I am back in Dublin in May. I just don't want to forget any thoughts that I have begun so by getting those down now I will be able to remember them later.

A few more things to remember...

Monika moments:
1) walking down the beach and picking up shells. I hand a pretty one to Monika and she looks at it and says "can you keep it in your purse for me cause I'm scared that someone is still home so I don't want him crawling around my pocket"... lol ohh monika
2) teaching Monika different phrasal verbs like 'workout' and 'makeout'. Monika comes home from work and tells me that she was 'making out' a lot the night before and now her whole body hurts... her arms her legs... and I looked at her and laughed and said 'u mean working out right' and she looks at me and says 'oh my god i told everyone at work that my body hurts cause i was making out all night long... no wonder they looked at me strange and didn't say anything'... lol ohh Monika
3) anytime i do something that Monika doesn't agree with. "don't worry Katie I still accept you"...
4) Spider dance

Carol moments:
1) always crying with her puppy dog eyes
2) version vs. virgin
3) walks around town

Milan moments:
1) 'don't complicate your mind'
2) roll me a big one
3) endless streams of milan singing Bob Marley from his bedroom
4) coconuts in snow

Edilson moments:
1) exaggerated stories... watch stuck in back of pants, please accept!
2) over sharing of info at work
3) 'I win...I win.. I win...' dance

Karel moments:
1) whats the secret password?
2) late night talks
3) sponge bob everything

I think that is all I can remember at this moment. I have to get to bed so that I am ready for my travels in the morning. blog you all soon!

There's nothing wrong with the Brass Rail!!! How else would you make money while in Europe?? And you know damn well that you'd be good at it!! PS can't wait til you get back to Canada!! This whole "away from Nalinda" phase has gotten way out of hand!

Oh, sweet Monika, you make me laugh. One simple word can change the whole meaning. Mom
