Ko Chang

After arriving back from Laos we spent a day and a night in Bangkok, which gave us a chance to catch up with our friend Liam and also to sort the trip to our current location Ko Chang. We stayed at a much cheaper guest house this time. The rooms were OK its just slightly off koh san road - the main tourist strip -which makes it cheaper. It also had some amazing views over the river from the roof. We got the bus / ferry from Bangkok to Ko Chang early on Monday morning and got to Lonely beach on the south of the island just as it was getting dark on Monday night. Its so good to be at the beach! The beach is palm tree lined and water is clear and warm like bath water where it is shallow. The island is mountainous and pretty much dense jungle except at the beach resorts. The resorts are quite upmarket with the exception of Lonely beach where we are staying, here there are more backpacckers. There are beach parties everynight - though tonight we have promised each ther to have a night off the Chang beer! (its 6.4%). We bumped into these Dutch guys we originally met back in Chiang Mai so have spent the last couple of days hanging out with them. We all went on a boat trip to some smaller uninhabited islands yesterday, it was a lot of fun. We were diving off the top of the boat (2 story + the cabin) which was 4 or 5 metres from top to water. Also we did some snorkling off the reefs and swam to a really nice beach and drunk beer and played frisby - goodtimes! We're both pretty sunburnt now though - need to get a base tan! Lastnight we went to a big annual party at Paridise beach, seemed like most tourists on the island were there too! Will add some photo's when I get back to Bangkok - internet is slow here.
