Our ferry arrived into Dubrovnik, Croatia at about 7am 😊 Our entry into our first non EU country was a gorgeous sunny one and we had decided we would pace ourselves into the morning and see a bit by walking to our guesthouse. After taking the scenic route and some great help...we arrived at the guesthouse which had a gorgeous terrace and garden. Our guesthouse owner, Stjepo, was really nice and gave us the run down on Dubrovnik. Apparently we were really lucky with the weather as he said it had been raining for 2 weeks straight before we arrived.

Dubrovnik is an interesting city...as Stjepo said...everything is solely for tourism. He said it was more like Europe and not Croatia. The populatation of Dubrovnik almost doubles during the summer which is possible to see with the number of hotels and guesthouses, and that is not including the number of big cruise boats which dock for the day! It was nice to visit this place in the low season as I could only imagine the craziness of the place in summer.

We did as all do in Dubrovnik and headed towards the old city...a UNESCO World Heritage site! The

old city was about a 45 minute walk from our guesthouse which was really nice in the sunshine! The walk along the coast was a beautiful way to check out the gorgeous coast line of this historic and ancient city! The old city was a very clean and orderly city...streets very even and symetrical! A beautiful old fountain that the locals drink the water straight from, one of Europe's 3rd oldest Pharmacies and a still operating water supply system build in the 1400s. The old city was quite amazing with old long streets and old buildings... many buildings now are geared towards to tourist market with many looking very spiffy and classy! We roamed through the small streets and also spent some time outside the walls of the old city and soaking in the sunshine and enjoying the beautiful coastal views 😊

We decided to stay in Dubronik another day and we went to check out the surrounding hills of the city. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful walk and when we reached the top we got a beautiful amazing view of Dubrovnik, the stunning coastline and and the surrounding islands as well as the old city.
