We got the night train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, it was awesome! we met a couple of cool guys - a lad called Liam from Hull and a guy called Alan from Bath whose brother in law is John Williamson! Small world! He said to me 'oh my sister lives in Devon but you wont of heard of the place.' so Im like 'try me' and he says 'Hennock!' funny.
The train took 14 hrs and we had a top bunks, and just had a real laugh getting drunk with these guys until about 4am.
Chiang Mai is cool, much more chilled than Bangkok - less pollution and less getting hassled to buy stuff. we spent the day yesterday with Liam and Alan looking at the different Wats etc and went to the night bazaar which is a big night market. Then we went to a cool bar by the river where there was a Thai band playing rock - strangely I had been there last time I was here.
We booked the trek today, 3 days with elephant trekking and white water rafting and bamboo rafting, staying in Hilltribe villages, leaving tomorrow morning. Liam and Alan are coming with us. Can't wait!
