Hello again and welcome to our last few days in Thailand, well until we come back on our next visa. We decided to get a mini bus from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok and then an overnight bus to Chiang mai. The trip went by ok apart from the early arrival at 6am. But that is all part of travelling. We booked into our hotel which was a little outside the centre of town so we decided, suprise surprise, to hire a scooter to get around. We ended up having a nip to Tesco and cooking our tea in the hotel. Beans on toast theres nothing better. haha!!! but we did treat ourselves to a tub of good old ice cream.

We headed off to Chiang Mai zoo on our scooter of course as it was only five minutes away. We had a brilliant day with the most special animlas being the Bengal tigers and the giant panda, although we only really saw the pandas ass as he was asleep with his butt towards us, but it was still cool. Craig got to feed Giraffes, an elephant and hippos for the first time. The hippos mouths were fantastic and they could have easily have bitten our hands off if they wanted, but we left with both hands intact. Thank God!!!

The next day we moved into the centre of town and to craigs joy headed out to the sunday walking street. It was so hectic and the stalls sold the same things but i managed to buy myself a bracelet, which has lasted longer than one i bought in Bangkok (a whole three days). We ditched the scooter and opted for bicycles. Craig had a lovely pink bike and mine was red. I cant say i was totally comfortable at first but i got better as the day progressed, well i think so but craig tells a different story. We had a leisurely day at the park and bought tickets for Thai boxing. We had heard the calls on Samui and Phuket say "tonight tonight, The fight of all Fights" for the thai boxing but we had never been so now was our chance. There were many fights on that night with many being kids but it gave us a great taste for the last fight which was between a canadian and a thai. The Canadian won!!! We saw all the action as we were ring side, and getting splashed when the fighters were being cooled off. This sport is very brutal and at times i had to look away, i dont even like boxing so i dont know why i chose to go but it was good to see.

We had a long wait in the hotel the next day as we were catching an overnight bus into Laos. The bus journey wasnt too bad it took us 12 hours to get to the thai border of Nong Khai and here is where we said goodbye to Thailand and checked into Laos.

Nice Bike
Well have truly caught up with your adventures now and will pass on to all in dull Sunderland. We have everyone ( chris/lyn, John Flip, Mike, anne, Helen) over this weekend and the boys are going to the Arsenal match on Saturday and all of us to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) on Sunday. Not as exciting as your venues but will have to do for us. Might still get out to see you, she is still trying. Love Dad
