Kuta Beach
Desceptively peaceful looking. Fiona and I have finally started traveling around Southeast Asia. We spent a couple of days in Kuta, but have since moved onto Ubud. Tomorrow we head off to Lombok. We've seen some dance and some temples and lots of fantastic scenery. I'll let Fi fill you in on more. I'm tired of doing all the writing.
Kuta beach wasn't so good. The place is fairly deserted due to the 2nd bombing (according to a local waiter) so the hawkers are even more pushy than I remembered. The place had a really depressing feel to it and we were pleased to get to Ubud which is much nicer and laid back. It poured with rain while we were there but we had fun chilling on our porch playing backgammon. The place where we stayed was really nice. The room had more than enough space to swing a cat (even Zek!) We were overlooking a hindu garden with heaps of statues and stuff. Very pretty. We did a bit of a trip around to see a temple and some rice terraces etc. It was very nice. The volcano unfortunately was a bust though because of the heavy cloud. C'est la vie.
