Whew! ~ After 20 hours of flying over the past 2 days, Galib & I have arrived safely in Karachi, Pakistan. We both enjoyed flying with Emirates Air. One of the unique things we discovered were the video cams on the front of the plane and at the belly. You can have the pilot's view at the click of a button. Very cool when we were landing!

We stayed in Dubai for 8 hours while in transit to Karachi. One could shop all day at the airport alone!!! Wow, the duty-free shops were amazing. Instead, we opted for fluffy pillows and crisp linens and headed straight to the Dubai International Hotel for some zzzz's. Afterwards, we satisfied our cravings for McDonald's...I had a Halal burger and Galib enjoyed a McArabia Meal. I'm looooving it!!!

After a good night's sleep, & much needed rest!!! Galib & I have been out and about in the city. This afternoon, we visited the all girl's school in Malir with Galib's family. Some of the girls are orphans, or some from single parent families, or others are very destitute, so it is incredible that they have defeated the odds and have the opportunity to

attend a school such as this. Some of them even continue their education to become nurses and doctors. Our visit was a special lunch for the girls, chicken and fries followed with pistachio ice cream. It was so nice to see the girls again, after visiting them 11 months ago. They've grown so much!

I also noticed that many of the roads have improved since last year, with so many more paved rather than just rubble. Farzana took us grocery shopping at Agha's, where one can find many imported western products. Galib & I are currently adjusting to the heat, today is about 25 degrees with a slight breeze. We want to nap all day with Armaan!

Tonight Farzana invited us to a special dinner with Bai and Ramzan Uncle and her friend Rayhanna at a French restaurant named Cafe Flo. This restaurant was located in the Alliance Francaise de Karachi. Only Farzana can find these places in Karachi! The food was amazing, I had the seafood ravioli and Galib ate the pepper steak. Dessert included creme brulee, profiteroles and a chocolate crepe. Delicious!

Salaam,
Cinnamon & Galib

Re: Great Pictures
Wonderful pictures. I am in Karachi right now but nobody has told me exactly reason why the bus and lorry owners go into such pains of decorating their vehicles. Secondly, being a black, I feel like a black blob buoyed in a sea of brown waters. A feeling of a stranger where you hardly meet with other blacks. But the fear has been sorted out. The few blacks who are there cannot withstand the heat so tend to keep indoors and only emerge in the late evenings when I also rush for a cool bath in the room. Did well with the photos!
