well, I'm not just thankful for having a great Thanksgiving dinner here in Shanghai.

I thank God for each blessing and lesson I experienced. Thinking about this past year: at times I was uncertain and frustrated (especially about finding a job)....but in the end---as always---He knew what was best for me & His timing is always perfect. So I'm thankful for His plan for me and for the power of prayer. I'm grateful for the opportunity to come to Shanghai, for the support I've received so I could adjust quite nicely to living in a new place, and for each new thing I have experienced and seen so far. And of course, I'm very thankful for my family and friends!

So, HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone! oh...and I just realized this is the 1st time I've celebrated Thanksgiving outside of Canada!

ok....more about the dinner. After a LONG day of sitting and "learning" about the IB PYP programme....a group of colleagues/friends and I walked excitedly to Julie's (the one Canadian restaurant here) for our Thanksgiving meal--we opted to do the 30-minute walk to the restaurant instead of taking a taxi so that we could work up a good appetite. The dinner was DELICIOUS!

The menu:
traditional Canadian pea soup
garden salad (with real salad dressing)
roast beef, turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, squash, stuffing, cranberry sauce
pumpkin pie
coffee or tea

The meal was HUGE!!!! I was served 6 slices of turkey and 2 slices of roast beef...with a giant spoonful of mashed potatoes and all the other stuff....I actually cleaned off most of my plate (and might I add...I ate my dinner at a pretty decent speed!).
I saved a few slices of turkey and had it packed in a take-away box so I can have Thanksgiving dinner again tomorrow night! I will just need to make my own mashed potatoes--albeit it'll have to be Betty Crocker's mashed potatoes. YAYYYYY...ehehee


p.s. I will post an entry about my Yunnan trip soon! I'm just waiting to get some pictures from my friends first....😊

happy belated thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!! i am happy to know you had a very delicious canadian style thanksgiving dinner!!! i figured if you were in Shanghai, you'll be eating peking ducks instead of turkey, hoisin sauce instead of gravy/cranberry sauce, minced duck lettuce wrap instead of mash potato etc! the asian style of thanksgiving! and yes, i expect pictures from your trip!
