It was then off to Manchester, a shame to leave our relatives so soon as a fantastic time was had. We managed to score a great 2 bedroom apartment for dirt cheap in a suburb full of Rabbi’s. But Jen was happy as there was a TESCO right around the corner. Luckily the car never got stolen. A tour of the Manchester United Stadium was a must with the Super Store so large we nearly all got lost. Andy wanted to move in, and enquired about rent, only to be dismissed. In the stadium, a light drizzle made everything sparkle and Andy got lost in the beauty of it all, mesmerized like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. Pre stadium tour we drove around the suburbs of Manchester hunting down Middleton Road where Di-sy was born and St Hilda’s Church where Gran and G’daddy were married. To get a feel of where Gran and G’daddy once resided we had lunch in the local pub, which was opened in 1937. It was almost certain G’daddy had once walked through those doors and an inspirational song on arrival into the pub made Di-sy certain that he once, like us, had been there
drinking and eating, maybe with Gran too. The next day in Manchester we took a train ride into the city (lets just say the transport system has nothing on Hong Kong) where we went on the giant wheel to see the sights. Di-sy and Jen Jen held hands the whole time petrified of the heights, which will have nothing on the London Eye!
