Alrighty! I’ve been in Sri Lanka for three days now and I must say that I really love this country so far. My mom and dad decided to tag along with me on the first section of my trip and I think it’s great. My dad is the OG adventurer so he’s even more spontaneous and crazy than me, I should learn from him before I depart on my own.
The first day we spent it at the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. It was a lot more sophisticated than I had originally thought it would be. They had solid infrastructure and pretty good restaurants. Sri Lanka was in constant civil war for the past 18 years until recently, it had finally ended. The past 6 months have been peaceful, meaning no more terrorist attacks. Swee oh! 70% of the people here are Buddhist while the remaining are Muslim, Hindu and Catholic. A good mix of religion and they all get along. We had a local take us to his home to feed us some legit homemade food. Neeyamai ‘Delicious’!

The second day we were out of the city and we travelled 5 hours towards the ‘real’ Sri Lanka where it was more natural and less civilized. There was nothing there but our nice hotel, surrounded by nature.
Today was really eventful as I started the day at 6 am. We walked around this famous giant ‘Rock” that used to be a monastery but was converted to a Palace in 1 B.C. When a King came over. When we walked around the area, I noticed that my walk has become a lot softer, more like a peaceful stroll. The concept of time really doesn’t matter to me anymore and I am free to walk at any pace I want. No one to rush me to quicken my pace and nobody to slow me down either. Free. Next, we checked out of our hotel and travelled to Dumbula which is the “cave temple” where they had a ton of magnificent Buddha statues. The walls of the cave were completely covered with paintings of Buddha. It was all good, but the real highlight of that trip was that there were so many monkeys hopping around everywhere. They were fearless of human beings so then they got real close to me. One of them gave me a five…awesome! Their hands are surprisingly soft,

its like they use some lotion or something. Haha! THEN as we came down the cave temple, my dad decides to try and scare the shit out of me by getting this guy to play his flute so that a cobra rises out of his container. It was pretty insane, it was all hissing and it did not look happy. It’s exactly like the movies in India where the cobra comes out. My dad somehow convinces me to sit right in front of the cobra as the music is playing. I decided to scare my pops right back by attempting to touch the cobra, hahaha, my dad freaked out and yelled, “No! Are you crazy?!” hahaha, just a little bit.

Anyway, we travelled two more hours on car until we finally reached this hotel I am at right now. I’m writing a lot on this blog because tomorrow, my meditation begins. Its only going to be three days. Wake up at 430 am, meditate all the way to 930 pm. Eat twice a day (bfast and lunch) and no reading, writing or speaking. This is like the beginner level. On September 16, I’m gonna be doing the hardcore one where I meditate for ten days straight. And I’m also contemplating on learning how to do some real yoga. It’s a yoga retreat where we go do yoga for 5 days… once again, no reading writing or speaking. Hopefully, all of this will help me reach deeper into my mind and clear it. No expectations though! Life is free. I’m do not fear tomorrow because I have seen yesterday and I love today.
