Rum & coke with Danielle
Yes, the fear of flying is slowly fading 12-27 10:30am
Airport. LAX. Waiting to board the flight. as most of you know, I was extremely nervous about taking this flight since planes scare me. You would think that I wouldn't go to India because of this fear, but the second that I won't go on a trip because of fear is the day you can call me old. Although, that and the statistics that I'm more likely to die on the freeway going to the airport than on an airplane itself is little compensation for my obsessive compulsive Woody Allen type mind. I was nervous leading up to the flight, going over such innane thoughts of would I rather the plane explode in midair or have it plunge to the ground so I'd have time to say goodbye to Danielle. So this is your warning, feel free to travel with me, but make sure you take a different flight because as Danielle can attest to, I have a mean grip. But three days ago, a calm peace came over me and I'm feeling better about it. I think it helped that I brought some sleeping pills, my lucky bracelet, my Doctor Octopus good luck doll, and that crazy
Rum & coke #2
Yes, I'm now drinking with my good luck Doctor Octopus action figure. The fear has gone, and insanity has taken over. leperchaun Lucky from the Lucky Charms cereal, so I'm pretty much set. I'm sure that this fear stems from two things, 9-11 and being pretty happy in my life. I'm married, have a house, have pets, have great friends and family for the most part, and why the hell am I going away when I have all this. I can sum it up in two words, Great Shopping. Give this jew a discount and I'll travel 4500 miles on a rubber-band powered cesna. Needless to say, I am in a bar right now and drinking my fear away with my 2nd rum and coke.
Airplane (no idea what time it is)
Flying over Siberia right now. Yes, that Siberia. It's beautiful and it's huge expansiveness makes you realize how small we are in the scheme of things. Oh yeah, it looks cold too. I miss home right now, but I have this tendency on 24 hour plane flights to want to be back in my bed and not next to a guy who's snoring louder than the right wing engine. Or to not have little soccer player behind my seat kicking it for practice. Calgon, take me away....
Airplane (later)
I thought the snoring guy and Mia Hamm were bad. Just saw the two worst movies in recent memory. The Island and Red Eye. See, if the plane does go down my last memory will be of that annoying Rachel McAdams who I just want to slap really really hard with me Skymall magazine.
The Korean Air stewardesses are so cute and petite. Okay, they're not just hot, they're smoking. I'm a sucker for Asian women which is why I'm having Danielle call me Eric-San. Oh, here's a susggestion for your next big trip. Try to stay a couple days at your first stop over. We stopped in South Korea for a three hour lay over and then had a nine hour flight to Bombay. It would have much more pleasant to spend a few days in South Korea to get our bearings and then take the 9 hour flight. Also, No Jet Lag pills do work. The entire flight will take a total of 26hours and we're losing a day coming to Bombay so in a sense, it's a two day extravaganza. Danielle is trying out for Red Eye part two because her eyes look like the Russian flag without the hammer and sickle. I hope you're writing this stuff down because this is comedy gold. Even after sleeping for two of the past 26 hours. We both took sleeping pills, but they didn't work very well. Sheer exhaustion has helped some.
Airplane: Later, yes later
Just saw Sky High. Cute but jsut a live action version of the Incredibles. If I had a super power it would be flying. No crying babies, no crappy airline food, no guy next to you who is anti-shower, and especially no movies like Red Eye and The Island. Although I would miss the Korean airline stewardesses. Did I mention that they're smoking? I'm just happy that my family doesn't live in India and I'd have to take this flight every hannukah.
Well there's the first installment...enjoy and on the way...Bombay
