Swine flu comes to NZSwine flu comes to NZSwine flu comes to NZ

Says STOP Do not come in if you have swine flu!
So here we are. Well there we were anyway, as we've moved on now.

After leaving Christchurch we drove up the coast road. We stopped at Kaikoura but were too late for the whale watching tours, but then we weren't too sure on them anyway as its a long sea voyage and we have a couple of not so good sailors in the party.

Then on up to Blenheim where we stopped for an evening Italian meal. We saw that swine flu is around and about! There we phoned ahead to Nelson to see if Penny and Mark were ready for us, and they were so we drove for another hour or so to meet them, in the dark. Their road is rather twisty turny and in the dark we didn't realise we were driving along a chasm.

So we met Penny, and Jemima, Matilda and Bea (Mark was away on business until the Friday) we had a bit of a chat and then were shown to their flat below their house, and we collapsed into bed.

The next day we didn't do much, all the travelling had really caught up with us, and it was great just to laze around chatting, drinking tea and having fun.
We had a couple of trips into Nelson the next day or two, and bought some nice warm fleeces for the children, as it is quite cold in New Zealand mid winter although the sun is very warming it quickly gets cold when it's not about.

We had several walks to the beach nearby where we dug huge constructions in the sand. The children also helped round up their two sheep when they escaped their paddock. Mostly we just had fun talking, chatting and playing cards and table football. The children got on really well, and had the best time.

Then we decided to see a little more of the south Island before we leave, so have driven up over a big mountain to Golden bay, and back on the internet.
