Hong Kong is huge. I wore myself out because I decided to walk everywhere and also skipped too many meals. My hips were sore and my stomach ached at times. It's easy to shop and I spent too much money, but I figured it was the only shopping I'd be doing for sometime, certainly the only H&M I'll encounter for a while. I had been aiming for Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island, but after hours of walking, I was too tired by the time I crossed over on the Star Ferry. So I stopped in Lan Kwai Fong, a watering hole for expats and visitors. I chose a place called The Keg because they had free peanuts. An Aussie named Joel chatted me (a Seppy) up there, and convinced me to go to a swanky cocktail bar, instead of the Hong Kong Brew House where I had planned to go. We drank US$13 cocktails and US$9 beers and chatted about all the models and poseurs we saw. Eventually I got out of there.

The next day I made better use of the metro and did manage to get to The Peak, which offers a nice view of the city. I didn't eat until 10:30 at night, partly because I felt guilty about spending too much money the first day (although I did drink a shitty expensive coffee in the afternoon). I found a perfect restaurant at 144 Queens Rd Central with a large serving of noodles and pork for fairly cheap.

Also, the first night when I just arrived I met a German named Michael who had the year off from being a police officer. He had a deal worked out where for 3 years he received 75% of his pay, then on the fourth year he could take off and still get paid the same amount.

streets
Oll Korrect! The place is huge and packed in tight like ice cubes in a tray. So very huge and also quite large. Streets are narrow, and sometimes they are like the one in the pic with steps, so those ones aren't for driving, but a lot of others can be driven on. I don't think they drive on that street in Lan Kwai Fong, that's all walkers and wheelchairs. So where do they drive? On the left!
