Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all.
Name your mission
Malaysia sure is different from where my family live in Australia. And those differences must be worth a closer look. It has been calling us for a long time. One whole year ago, we finally decided to have an adventure. Airfares were being offered dirt cheap. So, we booked flights for the whole family. Dad was up late that night figuring out all the connections. It all worked out... Yippee!
I won't miss freezing through winter in July at home. It's a great time to escape to a tropical climate.
Have passport; will travel
At last, my passport is here. Nothing will stop us now! You can't leave home without a current passport. And my latest photo sure looks different than the faded one from six years ago. That was half a lifetime ago for me. My blonde hair has straightened out and is a bit darker now. But I look way cooler! No question.
Passports, Yes! Visas? No! Luckily, Aussies don't need any special permissions for visits less than three months.
Flying is easy
I have flown on quite a few planes before. Always lots of fun! Dad

My new passport is here! tells me I even flew when I was a baby. So, it's easy. My brother Benji has also been on a few flights. He loves airports!
But all of this is new to my younger brother Rohan. He is only two years old. He can't remember much about his only plane trip last year. So, he might be scared. We will all give him lots of help and make planes exciting for him.
Young Rohan is now the proud owner of a
noisy jumbo jet. And dad bought him a new book called "Busy airports". It has lots of moving bits, including aeroplanes that "take off". He loves it!
The essentials
What things are most important to bring for travel survival?
* Music
MP3 players are the easiest way to take something you like everywhere. So, Benji and I have been synching our playlists with fresh songs. Green Day, AC/DC and even "Bob the Builder" will all be "touring" with us. Yes - there are a few songs there for my toddler brother.
* Computer
Weeks away from the internet and my favourite games? No way! They are coming with me. I now

Old passport photo have a "netbook" PC that is easy to carry anywhere. Much smaller than a laptop... and the battery lasts for six hours. So, those long plane trips might just seem a bit shorter. And I will still be able to keep up with friends back home when we touch down.
* Fingerboards
Please don't call them "Tech Decks". I'm talking about mini skateboards built from quality hardwood with precision bearings. Not the cheap plastic thingies. These decks are so portable I could fit a dozen in my carry-on luggage! And planes have so many "rails" you can grind on!
* Parent(s)
Well, someone needs to pay for everything! And parents are handy for calling taxis and checking into hotels, etc. They are also useful for little things such as getting to airports on time. And fixing all of my gadgets. One parent is enough to get by. But bringing two along doubles your chances of getting a "Yes" for everything you want.
Only a few more sleeps to go
Counting down... Only a dozen nights left to sleep through.
