Nice hotel that I walked past
(so so late updating this. Does it matter? I think not)

Anyway, so left Hong Kong, and caught the 9pm flight onwards to Auckland. Had to be out of the hostel by midday, so hours and hours spent in the park reading my book. Glad I went there, but not sure I'd want to go back.

When I arrived I got so so lost. Seriously, I walked around the same building about 3 times. But I finally arrived at the hostel. I'd heard loads of terrible things about Chung King mansions before I went, so I didnt go there. I went next door. Mirador Mansions is a massive building, with about a hundred different companies in there. The Garden Hostel turned out to be one of the nicer ones (and it was only about 6 GBP a night). On the same floor there is a minister missionary type-person, and we'd randomly find massive groups of people cooking on the stairs. Often come across older European men with much younger women coming down the stairs as well, so ick.

Aside from the going to the top of the hill on Hong Kong Island, seeing the Light Show, and going

Where I actually stayed - I was on the 4th floor
to the Art Museum didn't really do much touristy things. I walked around with the two other girls in the dorm (both very nice, one got very annoying by the end), and we found this local caff that did seaweed soup for 7 HKD. It's fairly easy to stereotype there, you can guess who the locals are, and who are the foreigners. I think we were the only non-locals there at all, apparently most tourists go to McDonalds. But one afternoon we'd gone there to get lunch (with an also very nice Dutch guy), and it started completely pissing down with rain. So we got some beers, and stayed there for the next 5 hours! It was awesome, just watching the world go by.

I never did make it to the thousand buddhas place though. Oh well, had a good time just randomly wandering through the city, and trying to find places with air-conditioning!

Next - Auckland
