Peas are nice.
Today was a day FILLED with many new and exciting things. In the morning, Tigist mastered the sippy cup, went swimming, and had her first full nap at the hotel. I think we are on to a program, here. In the afternoon, we took our first stroller ride. In fact, she is in the business center with us as we blog, sitting in her stroller and guzzling/playing from/with the sippy cup. Lunch consisted of a full container of Gerber peas (strangely delectable), an entire bowl of rice cereal, a dinner roll, and parts of mom and dad's sandwiches. If we had more around, she would find a way to eat it (or store it in her cheeks for later, as the case may be)! Yahoo!

The biggest news of today was our Embassy appointment. This is where we finalize Tigist's immigration paperwork to be issued a passport and visa, and to close her adoption file. We were the very last family there, despite a 2:30 appointment time. We didn't actually get called to the interview window, but due to our most excellent case worker Yayu's competent understanding of the system, we were folded in. Whew! The interview was actually quick

Tig's first pool encounter was a success! I think the bath thing is a baby-scam.
and easy, we were home at the Hilton by 4:00. We anticipate receiving the final paperwork, passport and visa tomorrow morning. Yeah!

Tonight should be pretty low key. Dinner is next: first Tig, then the 'rents. Tig seems to like this method; she can scarf down her baby food, then pick off her mom and dad's plates for round two.

my cup runneth over...
This is so fun! Not every part of parenting will be so fun, lol, but every new experience is so cool! I love that she's so curious! We're so excited to meet her one of these days! We'll have to learn a new language...we'll work on hello and goodbye for now...:)

"A very big day"
Sounds like you've got it figured out! Lots of great advice in the comments section. Kids will eat when they are hungry...and they are wise enough to always get what they need somehow, be it shoes, hats or going swimming. Delighted that its going so well! Keep up the good work! Love you all. Hurry home.

I was actually holding my breath reading about your visa interview. I've heard such horror stories about the AA embassy! I'm glad round one went well and I'll let my breath out completely one I hear that that visa is in her passport and you all are good to go.

Oh! i just love hearing about how Tig is getting along - all sounds perfeclty normal - right down to the meltdowns!! So much of what is happening to you reminds me of my first days with Arina! I'm so happy that she is eating well now - just wait - she will be growing before your eyes! I can't wait until you get home so we can share "war" stories! lol... I am so happy for both of you and for Tigist. You are blessed to have her and she you. I so wished you still lived in MA - I just want to scoop Tig up and give her a big hug!! - Love Kellie
