Prep for Travel

20 Days til I leave...

Moni (that's hello in Chichewa):

So I'm starting to play around with all of this site to see if I can get it to work, so put up with me if I mess some stuff up at first.

A little background people who aren't too sure about what I'm doing this summer:

• I will be living in rural Malawi from May 4th to August 20th (though I will be out of the us from May 2nd to August 21st with travel times.
  
• I will be working on a research project through U of M as part of my thesis. If people have specific questions as to the nature of the study, please feel free to ask.
  
• I will be living at first in the town of Dedza, and then in the village of Tchetsa. In the attached map, I've outlined my trip to Dedza, however Tchetsa doesn't exist on any map I've found, so just know it'll be somewhere outside Dedza.
  
• Some photos of my neighbors for this summer
  

Also, I'm trying to get people's input as to what they'd like to hear my talk about this summer. If you guys could comment with anything you'd be particularly interested in, let me know. I want you all to be actually interested when you read this, so I'd like to make it as interesting as possible.

Finally, over the next three weeks, as I make final preparations for the trip, I'll be posting sporadically. However, once I leave I'm going to try to stay up to date relatively well so my parents don't think I'm dead...

What I'd Like to Hear...
I'd be very interested to hear what surprises you - on the flip side, what was it you expected or didn't realize you expected, until the situation surprised you. And...I wouldn't be a teacher without adding, "What did you learn?". We'll be thinking of you and keeping up with you. Thanks for committing to this and sharing with everyone your experience.
