Hey folks,

Here we are - our final spot in the 2 weeks of the US of A. We opted for the money saving option of travelling overnight on the greyhound from San Francisco to Hollywood. Fortunately this time we foudn a seat by the emergency exit, which meant extra leg room...and that was about it really. The journey took a dooable 8 hours, during which we had a stop at a Burger King, in the middle of nowhere. Had to make a loo stop so followed the other bus dwellers into the BK and foudn the restrooms. And then I went back to the bus. Some people, on the other hand, thought it a good plan to have a BK whopper meal at 3am in the morning. Now, I was hungry at this time, but to be frank, I thought this was a bit disgusting. But there you go...

So we were pretty grouchy this morning and speaking to each other in low grunts and sign language. Managed to get a taxi to the hostel, and then laid low on the comfy sofas in the common room till check in.

Eventually made ourselves look presentable once again, and hopped on the bus to downtown. We were in search of the California Science Centre, at the Exposition centre. So having had some fairly sketchy directions from the hostel guy, we asked a local walking along the sidewalk. He didn't know where it was, but pointed us in the right direction at least. A couple of blocks went by and again we thought "we really don't know where we're going", so went and asked at a hotel.

When we asked the lovely helpful ladies at the desk if we could walk it, they kinda went "oh no. You can't walk it. It would like take you 40 minutes. Take the bus." Now the bus was a good idea, cos to be fair it would have taken us a lot longer than 40 to get there. Over the past weeks though, when Americans have said that it isn't a walkable distance, we've kinda had the attitude that "We're British. We can walk." But that really doesn't work, at all in LA. This city was built with cars in mind.

So yeah anyway, we arrived at the Science museum to see Bodyworlds 2, which only arrived there on Saturday 29th January. It was very fascinating.

Tomorrow, we're taking a bus tour from the hostel all over LA: Venice Beach, Santa Monica, the Walk of Fame, Bel Air - you know, all the really touristy bits. Cos we've run out of time here. It is time to move on...to sunnier climes. We leave for Fiji on 3.2.05 at 2045 and arrive there on 5.2.05 at 0400!! But the flight's only 12.5 hours.

Missing you all lots, particularly as we picked up a lurgy that was loitering menancingly around the hostel in SFm and have ironically been rather sorry for ourselves. Rach F, esp. has a nasty cough. But she is on the mend. And we're both now gussling plenty of vitamins!!

Loving the emails and messages and sending loads of love your way.

Take care and hugs,

Rach and Rach xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
