Go with the flow, as I said before I left. My plane from Toronto to Dallas was delayed repeatedly, and we didn´t get there until 1 M. So instead of trying to find the hostel
You know those forms they give you on the plane for customs after you land? Well,
I managed a short nap after my much needed shower, and was ready to go to the airport with the driver to meet my daughter and boyfriend at 7:45. I should of checked my email! After about a 90 inute wait we gave up and returned here to the hostel. And there was a message on my email saying that there was a snow storm in Saskatoon which delayed their flight, and they were stuck in Denver overnight. With the help of the hostel owner I managed to get our shuttle to Panajachel delayed for a day, and notified our hostel there we´d be a day late arriving. Rachelle and Vitaliy are scheduled to arrive here tonight at 9:15.

It wasn´t a total loss. I decided to walk to the museum (about a 45 minute walk), which I had done three years ago but it was closed on account of Santa Semana. This time it was open, but you need exact change (60 quetzales) which I didn´t have. Rather than try the children´s museum I went back to the zoo and spent some pleasant time there. I have a camcorder this time and got to try it out on the animals. The lions were not particularly cooperative but the monkeys were!

But before I got to the museum I found an artisan´s market, a large and very pleasant space with lots of shops, and most importantly, good washrooms (but no paper!) Anyway, I made my contribution to the local economy, found the hat I needed and some gifts for others, and enjoyed ¨window shopping¨. By the time I was done at the zoo my plastic bag was breaking so I HAD to go and get a quality Guatemalan shoulder bag!

I was back at the hostel before 3 PM, has a shower and a very pleasant conversation with a young Canadian (Alberta) woman who has travelled in Europe and the Middle East but not in Central America before, and am now here at the computer before another nap hits! At breakfast I chatted with another yuoung Canadian woman, originally from Alberta but now from Vancouver, who is working on her master´s degree in international development.

If the evening is as interesting as the day, and if Rachelle and Vitaliy get here, all will be great! ¡Hasta luego!

Hello from Icetown!
It's good to hear you had fun despite the disruptions in travel plans. Hope Rachelle and Vilaliy arrived okay and that you all have a great time together. The weather here has been a mixed bag - first we had a lot of melting, then we had rain and freezing rain, so it got really slick, then it snowed (so you couldn't see where it was slippery!) I felt for Barb Cook who had to walk on that to deliver "Meals on Wheels" today. Hope I didn't make you homesick with all this talk about the weather here! Yeah right! Anyways, I look forward to your next entry and hearing about how your Spanish classes go. Take care and have fun! Ttyl - Bonnie Presiloski

Honduras
My tour bus didn't come, but I got here by a different bus yesterday so toured the ruins late afternoon. Leave again for my return to Guat City at noon. All is well on my last day in Centroamerica!
