Well what a hectic day it has been sorting out the last few things at work, finishing off my packing and then getting to the airport. The good news is I am sitting in the departure lounge writing this now. But it was nearly a very different story as when I went to do on-line check-in this morning; there was no flight from Newcastle to Heathrow but there was Heathrow to Buenos Aires and back. So I rang BA to find out what was going on and they said the travel agent had cancelled it !! Just what you need to hear so as you can imagine I went through the roof, how will I make it to Antarctica but luckily there was still availability on the flight and I got it booked and all is going to plan now. If that is the only hitch in this whole expedition then we will be laughing.

I now can't wait to meet my 11 team mates in Buenos Aires, we have been emailing each other with our questions & plans to meet up. It feels like I have known them alot longer than just a few days in the Netherlands. We have all been comparing notes on our plans and what communications we have been doing in our local press.

So I will leave it there for now and update you on my first views of Buenos Aires tomorrow morning!

What a great excuse for missing the SCLT !
Hi Andy, hope you enjoyed the glacier climb ! I would love the photo opportunites - the scenery is stunning - but you know me, I don't like the cold ! I think going to Antartica is a bit far just to avoid a SCLT meeting ! I'm not sure Peter will think it is a valid excuse ! Stay safe, have fun - can't wait to hear your tales :-) Helen
