Hi everyone,

Time for a quick installment of what's being going on this week. Last time we wrote we were in Luang Prabang, where we stayed a few more days waiting for our Vietnam VISA and did some sightseeing around the town. Looking at temples; loads of steps; walking along the river over ricketty bamboo bridges with motor bikes coming at you and yet more local food. We also took a trip out to the nearby waterfalls at Kwang Si. Crystal clear waters that you could swim in and chill out. Also a bear rescue centre where one looked suspiciously like Kev. (see pics)

We left on Saturday and travelled on the worst road, (so far,, to Vieng Vang),,, so high up in the mountains with a full bus and constantly going around hairpin bends where you hoped you wouldn't meet one of the lorries coming the other way. (Carolyn,,, you would have loved it! :-) ) This place was just like a slice of Tenerife and Ibiza in the middle of Laos. Lots of bars everywhere, most of them showing Friends all day long, with people vegging on the beds watching episode after episode (not us though, honest). Next day we headed up stream, (via Tuk Tuk) and did a day of kayaking down the Nam Song as well as tubing in some caves. Night time turned into a drinking session at 'Bucket Bar', drinking from buckets (no spades though, classy), with some people we met on the kayaking, a good night!

Next day with a few hangovers we did the tubing. From the start there are bars all the way down, each with their own take on a rope swing, water slide or zip line into the river, excellent. See some of the pics for the trapeze acts! Though we didn't seem to get too far down because the bars were just as much fun. So many people having a great time.

Today we've headed to the Capital of Laos, Vientiane, before our flights tomo to Hanoi. Looking forward to going to Halong Bay and Cat Ba island reserve, the sights are supposed to be stunning.

Also, just to say congrats to James and Kelly on the birth of their little boy last week. Can't wait to see you all when we get back!!!

Catch you soon

Looks like you are having a faberoony time! But a bit too daring for us quiet types ;-) Neil says I could never do it as I'd have too many suitcases to carry round and how would I carry the cats!! Surely I'm not that bad.... but anyway you two it's wonderful seeing all your news I am jealous and need some sunshine can you bring me some back? LOVE the bucket Maria it's given me a great idea for this weekend's vodka session! Enjoy yourselves, stay safe and healthy and looking forward to reading the next instalment. Meanwhile it's back to work for me... sigh... so cold....

Kev, glad you are both having such a superb time....... least you are consistent when you are abroad, pretty sure the "beer" look was one you practiced in Dubai...........................
