Deceided to arrive on Ko Pha-Ngan a few days before the full moon party, and its a good job we did, chaos. We caught this HUGE ferry over, and these held a lot of people, quite a few a day, so the island was packed.

Took us a while to find accomodation, i was offered a Thai families shed for 3 pound a night, and i was tempted, but on closer inspection it really was just a shed......

A good while later i stumbled across an Isreali guest house, great location, i thought i had no chance, but he had a great room with 2 big beds & air con....... Nice. We booked it for 4 nights.

Really good island, nice beaches and very lively nightlife, and, again, thousands of Swedes....

Also full of people who don't listen to the warnings of 'never hire a motorcycle on Pha-Ngan' Good warning, the amount of people limping out of the MANY doctors clinics minus all the skin on their arms and legs. The roads are shocking, like a rally course, so most fall off!!

We made the most of the lively atmosphere, and had a good night, good few beers in the bars, bit of pool, sat on the beach with prob about a thousand or so other early arrivals. Beach was great at night, lots of fire shows, fire skipping, which is for the drunks, and fire walking, also for the drunks, and yes, too right i had a few goes.....

Second night we hit it harder, more of a warm up to the party, good few beers, then the BUCKETS! Basically you are sold a bucket containing a quarter bottle of named spirit (JD, Smirnoff etc), a can of mixer and a mini bottle of redbull...... all for the princely sum of 4 pound. Went down suprisingly fast, so a few more beers, then another bucket, all washed down with a few more beers.... Oh, and we got to watch another match on a huge screen on the beach, its now the only way i'll watch football again, could be tricky in Manchester....

We planned to take it easy the next night, what with the party being the night after. It was also a Buddhist holiday so the bars couldn't serve booze....... First bar offered us an orange juice and *ahem* water wink wink..... So the law is not strictly followed. Moving to the next next bars, they don't even try to hide it and will happily serve whatever you like. Then at midnight everyone starts serving again, so the quiet one drifted out the window!

FULL MOON PARTY night...... WOW, top party.. The beach was pretty full the other nights, but this was mad, thousands upon thousands. We hit the bars first, and they're really good about it all, you can take your buckets in, buy cheap beer from the shop and take that to the bars, no one bothers.... Beers, beers, buckets, buckets, drunken chat to strangers, buckets, beers, pretty much all that stands out. The music was awful, i remember that much. Hardcore Trance doesn't really work for me, but i don't think me requesting some Stone Roses or John Martyn would have gone down to well......

I managed to get back to the room at 7.30am only to find Royston had locked me out. 15 mins of kicking, shouting, banging, waking up the whole hostel was futile, he was dead to the world. I summoned up the strength of a bear and managed to force the door open..... Oh, and we'd booked the early boat off the island to take us to Ko Tao, so after about 1 hour sleep i very drunkenly staggered into a minivan, and then onto a boat............ More about that fun fun drunk then bordering to hangover boat trip to come... it really wasn't fun!!
