Today we went to the Elephant Hospital and Conservation Center! It was very cool! When we got there, we went to an elephant bathing show, and they took all of the elephants in the river for a bath. After that, we went to another show where the elephants basically did tricks for us - rang bells to the Thai elephant song Chang Chang Chang (Chang is elephant in Thai), beat drums, pulled logs, played dead, etc. They also painted pictures which was really neat! We then went over to the hospital and the doctor told us about what they do for the elephants, and we saw a couple with cancer (sad!). They have about 60 elephants at the center, and they have treated over 2,000 elephants. Then we went over to see the baby elephants and fed them sugar cane and bananas. We couldn't feed the babies, and the two year old elephant hit me in the face when I was trying to feed his mom, which was rather startling! Then some kids when for elephant rides, but I am going to go next weekend at a different elephant camp. Later we went to the Cultural Center for traditional Northern Thai dinner and dancing, which was fun, but very similar to the cultural center in Hawaii. The food was good though! The town of Chiang Mai also has a night bazaar, so we went and walked around that after dinner. It was a good day!

Cool!
That is cool that you got to go see the elephants and go to the elephant hospital. What do elephants feel like? Did you get sprayed with an elephant trunk? Tina
