My Bali Buddy or little shadow. Oh it's wonderful being loved!!! Friday 6th February, so exciting to plan so scary to do!
What a strange feeling at the airport. Friends taking me to the airport and seeing me off. Lex and Lauren feeling happy for me but sad also and all of us doing a great job of not saying what is in our heads and hearts. Such a good job in fact that at 9a.m. Lauren asked when I should go through to the departure gate. The flight was due to take off at 9.15a.m. and I hadn’t even been through security or immigration or more importantly - duty free!
We all ran to the gate and I was through security in an instant while I listened to my name being called over the loud speakers. There was only just time for a quick hug with Lauren and Lex, so the pain of leaving then was short and sharp, the best way I think.
I don’t think that I have ever been the last on a plane. Just look straight ahead and not at the dirty looks of the other passengers. Especially when you have an exit row and they all despise you for that already! The flight was smooth and
Jayden
Jayden is getting used to me sleeping in his room and didn't cry when he saw me in the bed next to him this morning. (Many a man has reacted the same over the years!) uneventful and although I did have an unexplainable feeling in the pit of my stomach, it is amazing what a glass of “savi blanc” can do for you at 9.30. the morning.
Arrived into the debilitating humidity of Denpasar and was whisked through customs and immigration as Toby has organised special treatment for me. But due to the flight arriving early and my flying through customs so quickly, I had evidently arrived before Inda. Toby was in Jakarta until later that day, hence my gorgeous daughter-in-law was picking me up. After about half an hour, I thought I should text Inda a quick, “Where r u?” No reply. I texted Toby - no answer. Then I realised that I had no coverage. Optus, who had promised to reinstall global roaming, hadn’t done it. Once again I could contact no one! Arghhhhhhhhhhhh. Is this going to be the pattern for the next 8-12 months I wondered.
Ever resouceful, I managed to sweet talk two Australian tourists into letting me send Inda a text and of course she was there and all was well.
Sunday 8th February. Tasha’s birthday
So here I am in beautiful Bali, melting with the humidity - no 43c did not acclimatise me for this - enjoying my crazy Bali family. It is early morning and the house is abuzz with preparations for Tasha’s 4th birthday celebration and it looks like it’s going to be an epic, no holds barred! This will not be the “six special friends to McDonalds and a movie” type of show. Wait with baited breath for the photos dear friends.
Talking of friends, I still don’t have global roaming, so if you have sent me sms’s and you have not received a reply, you now know why. I will be getting an Indonesian sim tomorrow and will put in on here.
Time for Kopi Bali, sedikit gula! Bye for now, miss you all. x
