Boots in the snowBoots in the snowBoots in the snow

OK so the snow had drifted against the fence a bit - but it was still significant for us Kiwis!
Well, we came to England so we could travel and see the winter snow in faraway places - really no need now as the snow has come to us. After a practice run earlier in the week when Wendy took 2 ½ hours to come home from work (normally 35 mins) we woke this morning(Thursday) to find about 6” had fallen overnight and everything had a nice coating of brilliant white powder snow. We walked around the garden (around the edges so as to not leave footprints all over the place) and took some photos - a selection you see attached. My boots are nearly 1 foot (30cm) tall so that gives you an idea of how much there is in places.

It is now early afternoon and the snow-fall has turned to sleet - Wendy took advantage of the perfect conditions this morning to go with the children to build a snowman and sledge down the hills so it was a very unique experience - we feel privileged to be here for the worst (or, for us, the best) snowfalls in 20 years.

8 days until we leave for a month in Norway, Sweden and Finland - I

Kids went out yesterday afternoon and put this one together.
guess we will see some REAL snow then!

So, to those in similar wintery places - keep warm! To those in the summer, keep cool!

Winter gossiping
Haha! Laughing heaps at mum's winter gossiping picture! I love it! Wonder why we can spend more time at the window... I'm wearing freaking jandals right now! Hugs and kisses from Brazil, that surely misses you!

snow on dartmoor
Plymouth must be the only place to not get snow this week. However it is extremely thick on Dartmoor and we have just had a fun walk up there with the dog. ps The hall and grounds look lovely all in white.
