Hello friends and well-wishers,

So yesterday was our first rainy day here, but we were on the ferry which took us from Wellington to Picton for 3 hours, and then we spent most of the rest of the afternoon on the bus to Nelson, so really it wasn't that bad. We haven't really done much here in Nelson because it's right by several national parks, one of which the tour is taking us to tomorrow so we decided to save our money and try to entertain ourselves cheaply. We walked along the Maitai River this morning (really more of a stream if you ask me) and then after a slight detour... no we weren't lost or anything, we made our way to the center of New Zealand. It was really steep getting up there but the views were definitely worth it. The rest of the afternoon we spent just sitting around in a park and trying to keep cool. Anyways, tomorrow should be an exciting day - we're heading to Westport and it looks like there are quite a few stops planned. We'll try to add more pictures soon but that's all for now!
