Airport
1 train,1 tube, 2 buses,2 flights, 1 taxi and 22 hours later we have arrived in Lima!

After we walked out of immigration and into the arrivals waiting area we start to look for a man holding a board with the name of our hostel on. We searched for about 20 minutes but to no avail. Called the hostel to confirm the reservation and they said everything is set for the 28th but today is the 27th,checked all the emails on the laptop and sure enough we booked the wrong day (great start!). We decided to grab a taxi and head there anyway. It is 7.30pm and rush hour is organized chaos Police with whistles and white gloves directing traffic on every junction. Children dancing and doing back flips in front of cars at traffic lights to try and get money. Half an hour later and we have arrived. We go to reception and apologise for booking the wrong dates and luckily the still have a spare room.

The room is basic but clean with en suite facilities although the cold shower has now head on it! Don't suppose we should expect much more for £9 a night. They

have free internet use and wifi in the room (better than Travelodge this).

As expected the flight was long and boring, although we did see the Amazon rainforest out of the window 😊

Peru is 5 times larger than the UK and Lima is the home to 7.6 million inhabitants. It is a large, spread out city, the weather is currently hot and humid. We are staying in Miraflores a thriving part of the city about 20 minutes taxi from central Lima. The area is hillier than we expected and the beach is only 6 blocks away from our hostel.

We won't be spending long here as we hope to get a bus tomorrow to Ica where we are staying at a desert oasis for a couple of days.

Adios Oli and Laura
