We celebrated Chinese New Year with our friends - Ohnmar, Sandar, Terence, Yong, Deborah, Nicky, Sarah and Mum (as in our Burmese Mum). It was a nice family day, sharing food, lots of laughter and stories about a recent trip the folks from the Panditarama centre made to Canberra.

On Australia Day (also New Years Day) Lorenza became an Australian citizen. She has been an Australian resident for about 40 years and finally decided to take the plunge. Part of the reason she did not do this earlier was that the Aussie citizenship oath used to involve proclaiming loyalty to the British King or Queen, and Lorenza did not want to do this because the Netherlands has their own Queen, plus she wanted to give her loyalty to the country not the royal family of another country she had no connection at all with.

It was a good ceremony, with some moving speeches about what it means to be Australian. Afterward we had a BBQ and cricket match at the end of our street to finish off the day and to celebrate Australia Day.

Meaningful Day
What makes life meaningful? If we appreciate each and every moment in life, living fullest everyday with sincere heart and being mindful- you will feel the happiness in you. I appreciate each and everyday I have in Australia, instead of citizenship, I aim for my PR status at the moment (which seems "difficult" at the moment). I wish to attend the same ceremony in near future and could feel what you felt too. CONGRATULATIONS! (thanks for the snapshot- good take!)
