Happy Australia Day!

Here's and update on what I've been up to the last few days!

Last week at work was such a drab! I worked an boring projects that really frustrated me because they were so inefficient. I helped the finance department move their information into excel and taught them how to do a label merge so they could peal and stick labels on folders instead of physically cutting and pasting them! Hopefully this upcoming week will be much better!

Thursday night we went to clock bar, it's cool because it's not too far from our apartments. I came home early with Tomi (a girl) because she was having a bad night.

On Friday I went to North Sydney to pay for surf camp! (*We don't work on Fridays!) We're going in a couple of weeks! I can't believe I'm going to learn how to surf!! Kawabunga DUDE! After that, a few of us went to Paddy's market and bought some cheap fresh food. I think I accidentally stole a pineapple because I didn't know how everything worked! Friday night I ended up not going out because I was catching up with Jason. He misses me a lot. Haha. And of course I miss him too! You were right, Adam!

Saturday was EXTREMELY hot! I didn't do much all day because it was miserably warm! I know all you midwesterners are loving hearing this right now! I made it to the grocery store that day and ended up making some yummy pasta salad. Darin, one of the other Augie guys on the trip works at a magazine place that has a bar in it, Sidebar. His boss gave all of us CAPA students from the states a free tab for a couple of hours, so our group from Augie and the other students from Minnesota & the east coast got to drink for free for awhile. The bar was fun and there was a lot dancing! The cab ride home that night was fun because I made friends with the cab driver. His name was Abas, he was from Afganistan. I never really expected Australia to be such a melting pot of different people, but it honestly seems more diverse than the states. He gave me my ride home for half the amount because I talked to him the whole time. He was really nice and it's funny he talked so much because American cabbies never talk... at all! The ones here are extremely chatty!

Sunday was a fun day because we all slept in and headed to Manly beach again! It's fun going there because we take a ferry through the harbour and get a great view of the Opera House, the bridge and the city. Manly also has fun shopping and a market on the weekend. Mandy and I stopped in a pub when we got there because she was really upset about what her boyfriend of 3 years told her. He decided to become a firefighter, a respectable job, but she had vowed to never date a cop, firefighter or anyone in the military. I was trying to make her feel better. It sucks because everyone on the trip who is dating someone back home is really dealing with a lot of problems. All the couples are fighting, over stupid stuff and everyone is really irritable. At least we can all talk about it together. It just sucks because everyone is really upset!

Oh well, last night was a blast. A group of us had a couple of drinks at the apartment and then went and met up with some of the boys at this casino on darling harbour! It was awesome! I've never really been in a casino, but this place was sooooooooooo cool! It was so funny because Tomi got carded 4 different times once we got into the casino. She's under 5 feet and apparently looks younger than 18! haha. Once the boys got done losing money, we went to this sports bar called "Score: What Australians do best!" Inappropriate, I know, but funny none the less. At Score, there were these two guys performing and I got them to sing "Brown Eyed Girl" and they dedicated it to Allison from Chicago! haha. Everyone was jumping around and having so much fun! Sorry for the early morning phone call, mom! HA!

As of right now, everyone is just having a couple of drinks before heading out to see the sights and battle the crowds in the city. Back to work tomorrow! I have to be up late to register for classes tonight! Oh well.

I hope all is well back home. I will post pictures tonight!

Cheers & Happy Australia Day!
