(Rytas writing…) It was very beautiful in Bahir Dar. It was my favorite city. There were palm trees in the streets and we stayed with Netty, a very nice lady. She is from the Netherlands, and her husband is a volunteer. Vasara and I made a card for her. Netty is a nurse and an artist. She makes nice pictures. My brothers, sister and I slept on the ground in her living room. We lost electricity, so we used candles at night. The electricity went off, then on, then off, then on.

We took a boat ride and looked for hippos, but we didn’t see them. We saw pelicans. We saw the beginning of the river Blue Nile which becomes the Nile River. It flows to Egypt.

Mom, Lukas, Vidas, Kovas, Vasara, and I went to a church. There was an old priest and a very old bible. There were pictures of Mary, Jesus, and St George.

We saw boats made out of papyrus. They only last 5 times. It doesn’t seem like a lot of work to make these boats. You tie together papyrus with a rope on both ends.

We climbed a huge tree. There are a lot of cool trees in Africa.
