We took the train from Florence to Pisa, where we got out and took the mandatory few photos of the Leaning Tower (but not before getting lost!). We then went to La Spezia then on to the breath-taking Cinque Terre which means literally mean '5 lands'. The five downs are Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. We stayed in an hared aparment with Riomaggiore. The whole area is a protected national park so no cars are allowed. There is a train that goes up and down the coastline or you walk. Even to walk between villages you need to purchase a pass. The area is known for it's pestos and for olives and grapes (namely white wine).

The five lands rule!
I visited these parts of Italy many times before. However last May was my first time to Cinque Terre. I liked it a lot. It is just such a picturesque place! If you are interested, you can check out a couple of nice photos on http://photo-blogging.blogspot.com/search/label/Cinque%20Terre Take care, M.
