Roatan

Green Point is where I live Red Point is where I work And that gray line running down the island.... thats the only paved road on the island

I arrived on Roatan last night. It was dark so all i got to really see was the house. ... Might have done better if it was dark in the house too. There are only 2 girls right now doing the internship, and I havent met the other one yet. She is house sitting for one of the instructors while he's in the US, so its just me and 7 guys in what can only be described as the frat house from Animal House. Third world countries I can take, but dirty grossness not my cup of tea.

The internet in the house is spotty at best, but there's a computer at the dive shop we can use. Today was my first day at the dive shop. I'm working at Turquoise Bay (where there is also hot showers, so apparently i got the good shop because while the other one might have better food - its a debate in the house - at least my shop has the hot water... we don't have hot water at the house) Oh and I am living in Brick Bay.

So today I got to drive the van with the Brazilian guests (because no matter where I go, I meet Brazilians) to the dive site. That was an experience. The road is paved (if huge giant potholes that will swallow you alive every other 100 feet can be classified as paved) at least, its the main road and the only one paved. But its twisty and goes up and down hills and you can never see around the turn, so ya know thankfully its almost too narrow for two cars to be side to side. After all who doesn't enjoy a death defying road trip to the grocery store. I got the lucky privilege because I can drive stick...and I mentioned that yeah my first car was an old Volkswagen, so now they know not only can I drive stick, but I understand stick.

Did one dive in the afternoon... definitely need to work on my buoyancy, I looked like such an amateur at the beginning of the dive.

Sitting on the pier today, and then later at the beach, I can only describe Roatan as a Corona commerical without the corona. Its amazingly beautiful. I will definitely try to get some pictures up by the end of the week.

That is such a good description - Dominica is the same way. A Corona commercial without the Corona, instead we have Kubuli.
