New Years Day 1.1.06
Up early after a late night/morning! We all went to church at 9.30. It was nice but very different to our usual church back home, very high. We went back to the house after refreshments in the hall and meeting lots of people and had lunch.
Now today it was 43 degrees! So we all stayed indoors, watched TV, read and slept.
We had dinner and then bed.

02.01.06

Up early again because we were all (Sue, Gwilym, Aneurin and Gaynor) off to the Blue Mountains. We caught a bus into town and then got the 9.20 train to Katoomba. All the trains here have 3 floors!! Very cool. The weather hadn’t looked too promising but when we got up in the mountains the weather was hot and sunny.
We saw the 3 sisters, which are 3 rocks that stick out, there were once 7 I think.
We had our picnic in the shade and then set off to do some walks. Unfortunately by this time fog had descended. And I mean thick, can’t see in front of you fog. We were lucky to see the views that we did because now you couldn’t see a thing. There were lookout points along the walk, I’m sure they were nice. The cable car and wire just disappeared into nothing! But still, we walked down to the 3 sisters and the small waterfall.
We had a drink in a café and caught the 4.25 train back to the city centre. On the way back (and any other opportunities we get) Andy and I quizzed Gwilym with lots of religious questions, which was very interesting. (We are making the most of staying with a priest).

When we got back Gwilym drove Andy and I to the supermarket as we were cooking for the family that night. We cooked a massive, lovely stir-fry and garlic bread, bought a bottle of wine and lactose free ice cream (so Gaynor could have some) it all went down very well.
We then ended the night with a game of ‘Absolute Balderdash’ which was really good fun and had us in stitches. (That is one for our Christmas list)
