Our Van
We were happy Hey all,
I finally have time to write a mail from new zealand, and also I finally did enough things that are worth telling.
I arrived in auckland on the 28th, the backpacker(hostel for "metaylim") that I booked with my partner from LaMetayel was a bit outside the city, so we had to take a bus to the city.
The backpacker it self was very nice and comfortable.
The first day was spent on arrangments, talking to people, looking for a car, trying to open a bank account etc etc.
After 2 days we moved the ACB which is the largest backpacker in Aucland and all NZ, it is a huge facility with a lot of internet computers and around 10 floors filled with rooms.
This is the place to meet other travellers.
In the few days I had in auckland i travalled to the Sky tower which is really nice, it is the tallest building in auckland, not that special but it has a great view and glass floor where you can stand and see the entire city below you.
Also I visited the underwater world that has a huge aquarium with sharks and other huge fishes, it was nice,
Cape Reinga
Amazing place but not worth the money it cost.
After a while of looking for a car and understanding that me and my partner are not really getting along all alone, we met a few other people and decided to buy a big VAN,
mainly because we really wanted to get out of auckland.
We found a toyota van from 91, very good condition and very chiep! 2800$ NZ, so we bought it 6 people, and 2 more lifters came with us.
We started going to the far north, where we pass by phaia, a city in the far north in NZ near the Bay of Islands, from there we moved to Kaitaia which is even more to the north.
There we slept in a HIT house, hit is an organization of chrisitans that love israelis and host them for free or 5$, this HIT house was really something special.
It is run by an old lady, who lives like in survivor movies, she gets her water from the RAIN! so everything in her house is made to reuse water, it's hard to explain but it was a really weird experience, she also liked to talk about the messiha and how he
Beaches
There are beaches just everywhere here will come and save us and we need to make peace with god before that.
It was a very intresting experience.
The next morning in kaitaia we bought a tour with a bus that cost 40$ to Cape Reinga, now this was finally something.
First Cape reinga is one of the most beautifull things I have ever seen!!!, I forgot my camera in the room but I will be sure to send some photos from there.
In addition the tour takes you to HUGE sand dunes like 15 times the size we have in israel, where you can do sand surfing.
After that you drive 90km on the beach! and stop everyonce in a while, to shower or just relax on the sand.
After this we went back to paiha, the next day we drove through the west coast back to auckland, on the way we visited some hotspring and the kauri forest, where you have some huge kauri trees(special tress in NZ) and we saw the largest and oldest kauri tree, not that special at all, even a bit dissappointing but it was still nice.
The whole trip the the north was amazing since the view all over is
unbelieveable, these new zealanders are lucky, they have amazing beaches everywhere and amazing mountains and forest, you feel like you are driving through the cover of a box of choclates from switzerland.
Now we came back to auckland, we decided to sell the van since we saw that travelling at 6 although fun, is not possible, and we don't get along.
Since the van is a very good find we already have a buyer for it.
For now it seems I am going to split with another girl and get a lift with some other guy we met for 2 weeks.
Anyways, I was surprised it's really hard to start travelling alone, but I am starting to get the hang of it.
I miss Israel and I hope you are all having fun!
and if you even managed to read all of this mail(that's probably impossible) keep in touch.
Talk to you later mates,
