Reality??...Nah, that's not for us...Reality??...Nah, that's not for us...Reality??...Nah, that's not for us...

...This is much more fuzzy to our liking!!
Hello there............
Tired and still mangled from the climb we washed up back in Kota Kinabalu where we found it almost impossible to disembark from the minibus due to every leg muscle seizing up from lack of movement for 4 hours!!!!

So back in a city with 4 days to burn before our flight back to KL what do you do?????

Nic - SLEEP, was our first and most important objective and so when we eventually found a reasonably priced room, AND it seemed to be in a nice quiet place we were thrilled and looked forward to the zeds! Slight oversight, in that the weekly Sunday market began to set up at 4am right beneath our window, and then at 6.45am the only CD stall in the whole market began to blare out his medley of Malay country tunes!!

Dan - For me the other annoyance was the sensation that something was hitting me under the sheet............what was it you ask?.........Nic's bleeding tail at 150 Wags per minute (as detailed in a previous blog) at the thought of a market within sniffing distance!!!! So up she jumped draws on, and shot off like a bat outta hell.

Nic - ......Well, as fast as my seized and aching limbs would allow anyway, and the fact that Dan was hiding under the sheets unwilling to move meant that I could snoop around as much as I liked...heaven! Slightly unnerving to find a stall full of dried seahorses, the very thing I was so desperate to find in the wild depths of Sipadan, alongside cages of puppies, kittens and rabbits - but on a whole it was a good morning of desperately needed retail therapy!!

Dan - I did eventually join her for a nose and a cuddle of the animals......... Tho the whole thing drained me and was in need of a stiff drink so we ended up sniffing out a bar with a happy hour. A couple of beers and a good sunset later we were chatting to 'Aaron' a golf pro (ex competition winner) who lived there and taught golf at one of the big expensive resorts, who took pity on us cheap skate backpackers and was kind enough to buy us a few more beers (he insisted...........BUT I did buy him his dinner so we're not completely tight asses!)

Nic - The next
Nic eating Durian...Nic eating Durian...Nic eating Durian...

...."The king of fruits"....but Dan cant stand it, it stinks!!!
morning bought about a hideous feeling that we haven't experienced for many months.......hangover, uuurrrgghhh, I'm sure it feels worse when you're out of practice!

Off the coast of KK is a group of small islands which make up a part of a national park and so we took it upon ourselves to waste a day on the beach. Being the intrepid explorers that we are, we ventured beyond the main beach and circumnavigated the island, with the reward of a pristine cove all to ourselves....perfect!

Dan - A beach is sooooooooo much better when you have it all to yourselves.

So, refreshed and almost full of beans we caught our flight back to KL and again spent the night on the benches (you'd think we'd have learned the first time!)

More soon
xxxxxxxxx

ps. Those heading to KK, don't fall for the Pizza Hut 7.95 Ringget deal that's before TAX and the pizza size is rediculous!!!!!!!!!!...plus ours for some reason was coated in jam...hawaian delight or something!!
