So I'm still loving Chaing Mai, it's busy enough to keep us occupied, but at a much slower pace than Bangkok. And you're pretty much guaranteed that anywhere you go people still smile and are sooo helpful. Found a 'food' setting on my camera, so I took a picture of Stefanies starter last night, fishcakes, for anyone that's interested 😊

The old town is surrounded by a moat with a one-way road system surrounding it, so its a bit harder to get lost (although that is still possible.) I kind of thought with my architecture 'training' I might be good with a map, but finding it quite difficult to keep track of where we are. The simple answer is call a tuk tuk and ask to go to a landmark of some sort.

Don't tell mum, but today I hired a motabike! Was having the shakes missing my Honda so I found a Honda rental and got a 4-speed Honda Wave 100 in the hope of getting away from tourist shops and getting a nice photo in the countryside! These bikes are sooo cool, really light and with bicycle type tyres. No clutch, so it took a bit of getting used to the funny gear pedal. 100 baht (less than 2 quid) got me a full day on the bike. (Dad, I checked the tyres and chain before I took it!) Unfortunately the unhelpful hirer left me with a tiny bit of petrol! Luckily I found a petrol station quick. But.... I had no idea what to put in the tank. And even if I did, everything was in Thai. Fortunately the petrol station attendants knew what I was after and I got 80 baht worth which filled it completely, that's about 1.20 in our money. Crazy prices. So off I set, stopping for a much longed for 'American breakfast' comprising eggs and sausages and toast and tea, no rice in sight, woohoo! Anyway for the next couple of hours I just drove around, trying to get out of the city, which I managed, getting back was slightly more difficult......But I made it, I'm OK!

All in all a good day.
