Inquire within.

I was thinking that when I leave Tam Ky I will not likely be going onto the internet on a daily basis, so I thought I should post the above "wanted ad" so that Anita is not left with an empty mailbox. Gosh, I’m so thoughtful! 😊 On that note...

Only one week left.
Will be sad to say bye bye
But life goes on, right?

Yesterday was the same old, same old with a bit of a twist. Brit was to go to the Music Centre with Hannah to teach guitar but wasn't feeling well. So Hannah shows up at the internet place to see if Karen and I were still around. Surprise, surprise we were! Karen had a few things to get done so I said that I would help out with the guitar lessons even though I have no idea what it is I'm doing! I don't think any of the eight weeks of guitar lessons in back in grade eight stuck with me. “Hey, Hannah, were you even born when I was in grade 8??” The timing didn't conflict with my afternoon class, so why not? We rush out of the internet café since we're gonna be late for the music class. Hannah was on a bike and my pathetic attempt to do a bit of jogging back to our guesthouse felt like Hannah was coaching me along. It was funny. It’s not the easiest thing to run in flip flops I tell ya! We pick up the guitars and teaching materials and head over to the music centre.

Hmm, where is everyone? There is only one student Quy. So Hannah proceeds to go over some chords with her...15 minutes later, now what? I take a bit of a tour of part of the Music Centre and check out the awesome stage that they have upstairs. Imagine having a concert! Anyway, two more minutes pass. Now what? We get Quy to play a few tunes on the keyboard. Then we start goofing off with the different beats. Hannah and I got Quy laughing and wondering "what the??" when we started to dance. That's when me and Hannah start commenting that this is the type of moment when Viet will walk in on the lesson to see how things are going! Suprisingly, he did not walk in. LOL We left a bit early. Hannah back home and me to class early.

The afternoon class at the Vocational Training Centre was pretty much like the morning class again. Once again Vy and Le followed me home. This time all three of us were on bikes. They like to come over and visit with Sarah and Karen as well which is nice.

We spent yesterday evening after dinner chatting with Mrs. Hanh. She is so cute. It was interesting with the bunch of us trying to interpret what she was asking in Vietnamese and then Mrs. Hanh trying to decipher what it was we were telling her/asking her. Thank goodness for the Lonely Planet phrase book and this kids colouring type book with both English and Vietnamese words and drawings in it! The funniest part of the conversation was when she was telling us she has two younger brothers in HCMC. Then something clicked in her head..Sarah and Hannah should start going out with them. Then she asked for their email addresses. You had to be there..writing this up is not gonna do the story justice.

One of the cooks Mrs. Tan has gotten a job at the new not so super Supermarket and has not been around. Which means her son Loc has not been around...

We are missing Loc.
Mrs. Tan got a new job.
Hope they visit soon.

So there is a new cook at the guesthouse. I don't know if it is a coincidence or what but the cooking has become a lot greasier (more fried foods) the last while. Could explain the breakouts! Oh, we had ice cream yesterday too. I would have to say that I really miss my ice cream (DQ dipped cone..DQ blizzard..DQ fudge brownie..I miss my DQ! LOL) Well, the ice cream bar I had was really frozen and had a "protective" ice layer that I tried to chip off before consumption. It wasn't really that creamy either. The consistency was more like a popsicle (sorry, Hannah and Sarah, a icypole). Rumour has it that there is an awesome ice cream shop by the lake in Ha Noi. I will make a note to visit there!

This morning I was at the Baby Orphanage. We didn't really plan too much. Just brought some stuff to colour, books to read and the guitar. It didn't start off too well when I went to close the car door and two of Tong's fingers got caught. I felt so bad. I know it was an accident but...

A lot of the kids were not allowed out of their room because they are sick and the mothers were afraid that they would get more sick if they were let out to play. It explains the low number of kids that were out and about and playing.

The weather is looking up again. It was raining this morning but now the sun is shining bright as ever (but that doesn't stop Karen from wearing a puffy vest out!) so it looks like Phu Ninh Lake is on again for tomorrow. We'll be picking up some food and having a bit of a picnic which should be fun. Mrs. Hanh, Mr. Hoa and Mr. Binh will also be going. Like I have to remind myself, but I will definitely bring my camera to take some pictures of the cooks that I've been talking about the last couple of days.

So, the weekend is here once again. Hope all is well wherever you are.
Love,
Bonnie
