Sunrise at Full MoonSunrise at Full MoonSunrise at Full Moon

This is the proof - we made it until 7am to see the sun come up.
Please bear with me as we are writing this having moved on to a further 2 places since. However, we needed this long to recover from the craziness that was Koh Phangan and the Full Moon Party!
Staying at the Delight Resort (nice one Trude and Kel Mac) which was about 10 seconds away from Haad Rin (Sunrise) beach, our location could not have been more perfect!
The nights leading up to the Full Moon Party are in themselves like mini raves so our expectations were high. And boy, we were not disappointed! As you will see from the photos (when we get chance to post them up) we had a blinder!! During the day, Haad Rin beach is a fairly quiet, laid back place but at night the place comes alive. All along the beach there are stalls, with vendors selling the buckets of sangsom, vodka etc etc and beers - all of them shouting at you to buy from them.
There are fire shows at every bar (can only remember the names of a few of em - Cactus Bar (fairly good tunes - thats why this one stuck!) and Drop Inn). We saw many a foolhardy westerner make

Debbie March - good time girl from home did us proud and lasted the night!
like the thais and try to skip thro a rope of fire only to find their nether regions become slightly singed by the way they were clutching themselves!
Having spent one day catching up with Debbie and friends at their resort in Baan Thai, they agreed to come over and meet us for the Full Moon. So there was a little crowd of us, with Debbie out front, mascot in hand (well a pole with a pair of devil's horns on top!) leading us up Mushroom Mountain which looks out over all the beach. Having had a little boogie, we then returned down to party central where we kicked ass with 8,000+ revellers til dawn! Yes, we may be old birds, but we showed we could last the distance with the rest of them and hats off to 50 yr old Debs who also did herself proud.
Watching the sun come up was truly awesome and not to be missed. We then took our weary bodies off for a chicken kebab (you can take the girl outta Plymouth . . )!
Decided to stay another day cos we couldn't quite face getting a ferry the same day and agreed that

I felt seriously threatened with the stiff competition from the lady boys!!
unlike the foolish majority who were moving on to Koh Tao, we would instead give ourselves a breather and chillax in Krabi.
Koh Phangan? Definitely our fave so far!!
